WFA Grand Slam at the Cambridge Cocktail Weekend Sponsored by Fabbri & Beaumont TM

We are very happy to announce that the WFA Grand Slam at the Cambridge Cocktail Weekend has been confirmed for the 24th/25th of August 2018 in what will be the second year of this iconic competition. Fabbri have been confirmed as the headline sponsor for the second year running also, having been one of the worlds most prominent brands in supporting flair bartending.

Having admired the world of flair bartending from afar for many years, Fabbri (who have been involved in the world of food and drink since 1905), have started to throw their support behind many different WFA flair bartending competitions such as the Grand Slams and the WFA Supported comps. In their time Fabbri have been involved in many different roles within the food and drink industry, creating their own rum, vodka, gin and a range of cocktail purees and syrups. Famous for their amarena cherries and in particular the ornate amarena cherry jar used widely by chefs and bartenders around the world.

Competitors in the WFA Cambridge Cocktail Weekend Grand Slam will be required to use one of the many Fabbri products during the cocktail making section as well as showing their skills, flaring with one of these same Fabbri products with an award going to the best #FabbriFlip. This will present an interesting challenge for the flair bartenders as they try and work this into their routine as well ensuring a high level of brand awareness for Fabbri for all those watching the competition at the Cambridge Cocktail Weekend and through the live stream.

Beaumont TM will also be sponsoring the WFA Grand Slam at the CCW, having been supporting the world of flair bartending for over 4 years and the WFA in particular supplying our colourful WFA Grading’s cocktail shakers. The WFA is a great avenue to reach out to bartenders all across the world and this is how Beaumont TM and the WFA have been working together over the years. Renowned worldwide for their manufacturing and distribution of barware and cocktail implements, the stage bar at the Grand Slam will be set up using a number of products from the Beaumont professional and Mezclar range. You will also be able to get hold of their excellent professional home cocktail kit from the Beaumont TM stand at the event.

What is the Cambridge Cocktail Weekend (CCW)?

The Cambridge Cocktail Weekend is designed to celebrate the great cocktails and bars that Cambridge has to offer, alongside some of the global spirits superstars all showcased in one room. Last year the Corn Exchange was packed to the gills with bars and saw over 2,000 through the doors enjoying delicious cocktails, with plenty of partying and dancing until late to brilliant live bands and DJs.

This year, we’re back bigger and better with a three-day extravaganza, a fabulous festival of cocktails, with bars aplenty, plus the best in music and entertainment. There will be a range of fun activities like cocktail masterclasses and demonstrations, throughout the day too – many of which are free, after the cost of the cocktail. Most importantly though, there will be over 50 cocktails to choose from including premium spirit cocktails from just £5.

The WFA Grand Slam at the CCW

While all this is going on, the WFA CCW Grand Slam will be taking place on the main stage, in the main hall of the Cambridge Corn Exchange. A stunning and historical building, with a huge stage, the Cambridge Corn Exchange provides an unrivalled platform for the competing flair bartenders to strut their stuff and showcase the world of flair. With the vast majority of the audience being the general public, rather than flair bartending enthusiasts or bartenders, this also offers a great opportunity to introduce a lot of people to the fantastic world of flair bartending.

Expect to see some of the worlds biggest names in flair bartending competing, such as last year’s winner and our current World Champion – Marek Posluszny, Roman Zapata, Dennis Trifanovs and Ilona (Last name). With £5000 in prize money up for grabs and awards for best female, best cocktail and best #FabbriFlip – there is a lot to play for. With a huge stage and access to the Cambridge Corn Exchange’s lighting, sound and production – the WFA Grand Slam at the CCW is set to be quite the show. Details on the live stream to follow soon.
