The Brighton Flair Open will be held on Friday 24th of February at Oceana nightclub in the city of Brighton on the south coast of England (30-40 minutes by train from Gatwick airport and 50 minutes away from London Victoria. For those who require help with directions and train information from London or anywhere else, a document can be made available on request.
This competition will consist of one round of 5 minutes, during which competitors will be required to make 3 drinks. Two of these drinks made using working flair (minimum half full bottle) and must be set drinks (see below). The final drink is the exhibition flair drink (minimum 12.5ml if liquid in the bottle) and can be your own creation, as long as it uses at least 25ml of Bacardi and cocktail basics such as glass, ice and straw (if applicable), base spirit, any sort of mixer/juices/bitters etc, garnish and is served using correct bar etiquette i.e. Bevnaps etc.
The main event sponsor for the competition will be Tuaca http://www.tuaca.co.uk both set drinks will include Tuaca. The other sponsor for the event is Bacardi. During the working flair please try to make the sponsors’ product is seen clearly at least one or more points, as without them we wouldn’t have this kind of prize money. (You don’t have to start kissing the bottle or anything like that). There will be 5 extra bonus points available if you do this, they’re easy points and they all count…
The competition is part of three other huge events, the Pre-union https://www.facebook.com/preunion the Working Abroad Expo 2012 and a Zante workers’ re-union, so is expected to be busy and full of party people.

DRINK RECIPES
1. Tuscan Mule (Working flair drink), bottle must be half full
50ml Tuaca
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
2 squeezed lime wedges
Top up with ginger ale
Method: Build
Ice: Cubed
Glassware: Tall
Garnish: Lime wedge
2. Your own creation (exhibition flair drink) min. 12.5ml
This drink can be entirely your own creation providing it has at least 50ml of base spirit and at least 25ml of Bacardi and follows basic bar etiquette.
We will supply the Tuaca for the working flair drink (see picture below) For those who haven’t used it before or may have difficulty getting hold of it, it is a similar weight to a Havana bottle and almost the same width, neck length and other dimensions that effect your flair. We will also provide competitors with empty Bacardi and Malibu bottles, as well as all standard bar tools, all the ingredients for the working flair cocktail and a few basic ingredients (see list below).
Bottles and other ingredients –
The organiser will supply a number of Bacardi and Malibu bottles as well as the sponsors’ bottles for the working flair drink. Any other obscure bottles must be provided by the competitor.
Ingredients include cranberry juice, orange juice, apple juice, strawberry puree, raspberry puree, Angostura bitters, mint, sugar, lime wedges, lemon slices, orange slices, crushed ice and cubed ice.
Glassware – We will provide a selection of 5 ½ oz Collins’, 11 ¾ oz Collins’, and 7 oz martini’s. Any other glassware must be provided by the competitors.
Standard WFA Rules will be used for judging.
